Entertainment & Shopping

Few areas offer such a wide range of opportunities for entertainment as Pieria does.

Food accompanied by music, recharging your batteries in restful cafes, nights full of activity, theatre performances and films, strolls by the sea, cruises and a large potential choice of excursions, coupled with visits to historical and archaeological sites will give you plenty to do in your free time.
There are literally hundreds of nighttime entertainment venues all over Pieria. Taverns with live bands, cafe-bars with music to suit all tastes, clubs and discos for the modern music preferred by young people, evenings with traditional music in hotels are just some of the options open to you the visitor.

At the ancient theatre at the Dion Archaeological Site and at the Byzantine Castle of Platamon theatre companies from all over Greece and abroad put one important shows during the Olympus Festival each summer.

Trips by sea will surely win over visitors to Pieria in search of that something else. Choose between cruises by “caique” or larger craft and daily excursions from the harbors of Paralia and Platamonas along the length of the coastline.

For the restless, Pieria has much to offer in terms of excursions which can be combined with trips to other prefectures. These include taking in the beaches, wetlands, historical monuments, Olympus, the Pieria Mountains, old traditional villages and local monasteries.

The centre of local shopping activity is Katerini. It has everything the visitor to Pieria could want, and in particular clothing, footwear, make-up and jewellery while there is also a full range of shops with car items, computer and electronic devices.

Extensive shopping opportunities are also to be had in Litochoro, Leptokarya and Platamonas.
